Character Name: Prompto Argentum

Canon: Final Fantasy XV
World Description: A wiki!
History: Another wiki!
Death: Prompto doesn't actually die over the course of canon, but there's a lot of close calls, mostly from daemons. In Chapter 13, there's a point where the party is split and Prompto, Ignis, and Gladio have to deal with an onslaught of daemons. In canon, all three of them manage to come out alive, but in this version of events, Prompto doesn't make it, falling to the business end of a Reaper daemon's scythe while trying to reload his gun.
What are your plans for this character in-game? At the risk of sounding boring, I'm actually not very sure. The whole setting is a lot out of Prompto's comfort zone, so I'm hoping to have him get better at dealing with things that he's not so good with--mainly having to be around and work with people that aren't his close friend circle and possibly by himself, and the constant darkness.
What aspects of this game and/or its setting are you most interested in having this character engage with? I like horror/survival games, and related to the above answer, I enjoy putting characters in situations that are outside their comfort zone and seeing how they respond to it.
How does your character generally get along with other people? Very well! He's a very friendly and social person normally, especially if someone nearby looks like they're doing something that piques his interest or could use a helping hand. He's a little more hesitant to approach people who look like they might be bad news or are particularly intimidating (much taller than him, dressed like they're about to go into battle, visibly and greatly non-human, etc.) though.
What is your character's mental state upon entering the game? Not the greatest. He wasn't expecting and certainly wasn't hoping to die, and ending up in a relatively depressing (looking) afterlife kinda sucks. Plus he'd be a bit embarrassed that he faltered in battle long enough to receive fatal injuries.
Skills/Abilities: Prompto's essentially a normal human and possesses no real special abilities, aside from maybe being extra durable by virtue of being a JRPG character. He's quick and agile, though, and has excellent hand-eye coordination.
His skills lie mainly in photography and firearm handling. He's able to pick up and use pretty much any gun or projectile weapon with relative ease and can locate the weak points in many opponents during battle. Photography is his passion and he can work with various types of cameras, films, and filters and will happily talk your ear off if you ever want to know anything about the subject.
Flaws/Weaknesses: Hoh boy.
Physically, he's not super strong. He's built for speed rather than power, and while he has muscles, he's still on the short and skinny side. While he's grown out of needing glasses full-time, he does still need them for reading once in a while.
Mentally, he's a mess of hangups and anxiety. He's generally a goofball, but sometimes he strays away from 'amusing' into 'obnoxious'. It's hard for him to sit still for more than a few minutes and he's easily distracted.
He constantly worries about being good enough to stay in his circle of friends, about saying or doing something wrong or no longer being useful to the group, so he attempts to keep everyone in good spirits and do as much as he can whenever he can. He worries about whether the circumstances of his birth mean he'll have to betray his friends in some fashion and possibly if it makes him a traitor to them by default. He's gotten desperate enough to resort to trying to burn the tattoo off his arm that is a physical reminder of said circumstances. All that said, any and all of his friends can also be considered a weakness in and of themselves.
Phobias include heights, enclosed spaces, and gaining excess weight.
Personality: Prompto is a very animated, emotional, 'lovable dork' kind of person. He’s friendly and has a joke for just about every situation, with varying degrees of corniness, and strives to be the one person everyone can look to for a positive attitude and optimistic outlook--at least when he's not complaining about having to hike somewhere or how many bug bites he's gotten. He gets excited and distracted very easily, and if left to his own devices, will absolutely abandon a current task to check out an interesting thing he just noticed. Being still and quiet is not one of his strong suits, and it doesn't take long for him to try to fill a silence with whatever may come to mind or start fidgeting or pacing if told to wait.
Prompto is also, in reality, a very shy and insecure person. In his immediate friend circle, he's the one with the least amount of combat training, and the lowest as far as social status goes. He trips over his own feet frequently and his words just as much. Coupled with the fact that he's not a native Lucian but born in an enemy country and supposed to have grown up to fight them, he's absolutely sure they could dump him as a friend at any second. He eventually confesses these worries, but despite being reassured that his actions mean more than anything else the fear remains in the back of his mind.
It's not a recent fear, though. As a kid, he was overweight and withdrawn, having no real friends and basically absent parents. Said parents, while absent, were open about Prompto being adopted, so he knew he was different from other kinds in at least one aspect. The mysterious barcode printed on his right wrist made him even more different and led him to keep to himself, afraid that someone would recognize it or start asking questions. Even as an adult, he keeps it covered, especially after discovering what exactly it's for.
It takes him until nearly high school to eventually summon up the courage to approach prince Noctis, after receiving a letter requesting that he try to become friends with the other boy, only to--in his mind--completely screw up. Not only does he trip and fall on his face, but Noctis comments that he's heavy when trying to help him up. This spurs Prompto to better himself physically and mentally, pushing himself to lose weight and not attempting to interact with Noctis again until years later, when he greets him like they've been friends their whole lives.
Despite the 'lovable' aspect of his personality he tries to play up to sometime exaggerated lengths, he's not above expressing his negative opinions. Monsters are scary and he hates fighting them, he'd like everyone to know that he's very afraid of heights and tight spaces, and why does everyone hide their treasure in the most out-of-the-way spots?
